Of Saad Khan, Unilever and human life

There is something really questionable taking place in Pakistan. A big corporate, despite its frequent displays of corporate citizenry, is not taking responsibility for the loss of life that it may be directly responsible for. In fact, if the blogosphere is to be believed, it has used its muscle to limit the coverage of this case, in a futile attempt to protect its reputation.

A bright, ambitious, jovial, Saad Khan, husband, and father of four, is no more because Mindshare, Unilever and their inept event organizers didn’t put enough life guards in place to save a drowning man. Its shocking, and deeply infuriating.

Details on the circumstances of his death and its corporate response are still emerging. For more information, read Farrrukh’s post ‘Unilever reality show claims the life of my friend Saad Khan’.

I hope Unilever does the honorable thing now, and lives up to its corporate ideals.
